Dear students and friends,
I am sitting here with the key board, not sure how to start this letter.....I am reflecting on how Yoga has changed, and keeps changing, my life in so many ways. In the way I see and understand the world around me, how I experience and relate to other people and how I know and relate to myself.
At this time I find it difficult to define this practice whenever asked, as there are so many layers to the practice, and such depths to it. The practice of postures, the breathing exercises and the seated meditation is work that needs to be done, so to free ourselves from the habits of our mind. Not until we are able to step out of the ever going loop of the thinking mind, by observing it, can we open up to the experience of being fully present in the moment, observing life unfold and actually have a direct experience of reality.
On the road there we ripe the benefits of a freer and more open physical body, perhaps we heal some old injuries as well. We get more comfortable in our own skin, both physically as well as in our hearts. We get to know ourselves for who we truly are, not for who we think we are. Many find relaxation and stress reduction, or a sense of ease in life in general.
What is remarkable is that these are just a few examples of all the benefits of yoga initially, but that the really juicy parts of this self transformation is still greater than all these changes together! The experience of pure consciousness....and all we have to do is to practice, on the mat and off the mat. Be curious. Constantly coming back to the practice of observing your mind, body and heart. And it will all come..
There are a few cancelled classes in the month of February. There are no Gentle Yoga classes on Wednesday the 8th and 15th. There are no Pilates classes on Monday the 6th, 13th or 20th. The Wednesday Pilates classes will be running as usual and I will teach the class on the 8th and 15th as Louis will be away visiting family in Trinidad.
I will offer one more Restorative Yoga workshop on Saturday the 25th of February. It's the perfect time to restore and rejuvenate at the end of the winter. The session is open to all levels of yoga practitioners and will be two hours long, starting at 4pm.
Heidi's Yoga Tune-Up workshop was a success this past weekend and she is planning another one for March 10th. Details about this workshop will follow over the next few weeks. Please stay tuned!
Peace,
Lena
